- Winners from schools nationwide receive SSPN education grants to support their future education
- eKelas platform continues to expand its curriculum and digital content to empower students with future-ready skills
Building on its commitment to educational empowerment, Maxis recently celebrated the achievements of 42 outstanding students in its Anugerah Gemilang eKelas 2025 awards programme. Comprising 25 secondary and 17 primary school students from across Malaysia, the winners were recognised for their significant academic improvements and active participation on the Maxis eKelas digital learning platform.
The Maxis eKelas platform empowers students with quality education content and resources to enhance their academic performance, with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects. Anugerah Gemilang eKelas recognises and rewards active eKelas students from B40 households, reflecting Maxis’ ongoing effort to promote accessible digital learning.
This year’s award programme garnered over 400 applications over a three-month period. Winners receive financial support for future studies, with grants of RM1,500 for secondary students and RM750 for primary students deposited into their Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN) accounts.
Earlier this month, winning students from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan were honoured at a ceremony held at Menara Maxis. The event was officiated by Moktar Bin Wahid, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Education’s Educational Resources and Technology Division. Winners from other regions will be celebrated at upcoming award presentations.
“The journey to academic success is often shaped by access to the right support and learning resources. We are proud to support this journey through Maxis eKelas, and celebrate outstanding progress and resilience through Anugerah Gemilang eKelas. By recognising students who have shown meaningful improvement, we are reaffirming our commitment to bridging the digital divide and connecting our youth to a world of possibilities.” - Azizul Abdul Rahman, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Maxis

The impact of eKelas is best seen through students like Chan Kit Yeong, 18, from SMK Bandar Puncak Jalil, Selangor. He credits its practice quizzes for helping him achieve 7As in SPM, paving the way for his dream of studying electrical engineering. Similarly, Nurain Farhani, 16, from SMK Bandar Tasik Kesuma, Selangor, who improved in four subjects last year, highlights the quizzes as a valuable tool to simplify complex concepts. This made learning more manageable, effectively supporting her academic progress.
Eligibility was open to Malaysian students from Year 4 to Form 5 with an eKelas account, from a B40 household, who demonstrated improvement in at least two core subjects by a minimum of one grade or level. Winners are assessed based on measurable academic progress and active platform engagement.
Anugerah Gemilang eKelas is an annual initiative under eKelas, Maxis’ flagship community programme. eKelas is an after-school digital learning initiative aimed at improving academic performance, particularly in underserved communities. It offers live tutorials, group learning, competitions, and comprehensive digital content via its portal and mobile app. This year, the curriculum expanded to include Form 4 and 5 subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Additional Mathematics, along with self-assessment quizzes. Generative AI modules will also be introduced to equip students with future-ready skills.
