Maxis becomes the first Malaysian telco to migrate mission-critical workloads to the AWS Malaysia Region

Maxis Berhad (Maxis) has migrated its mission-critical workloads from Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) Singapore Region to the AWS Malaysia Region, becoming the first Malaysian telecommunications provider to achieve this milestone. This includes 100% of its digital workloads, such as the Maxis and Hotlink apps that serve millions of customers.

By hosting workloads locally, Maxis has reduced latency, resulting in faster response times and a smoother user experience. This move also drives operational efficiency and a more cost-effective operating model by eliminating cross-region data traffic, enabling the company to focus on value creation.

Maxis leveraged its internal cloud engineering team to lead this transition. This initiative highlights the company’s technical capabilities, reflecting expertise cultivated since its cloud journey with AWS began in 2016.
