Hotlink Uni Legends 2025 empowers university students to bring their dream events to life

- Students across 20 public higher learning institutions nationwide were invited to submit their event proposals
- Three teams awarded full funding to execute their winning campus event ideas in Q4 2025
- This initiative reflects Hotlink’s ongoing commitment to youth empowerment through creativity, leadership, and real-world opportunities
Hotlink crowns three winning teams in the Hotlink Uni Legends 2025 challenge, a platform designed to empower Malaysian university students to turn their dream event ideas into reality, with full funding support from Hotlink.
Open to students from 20 public universities nationwide, the challenge called for event proposals capable of attracting more than 5,000 participants, with free entry for all. Students were encouraged to think big and dream even bigger, while sharpening their skills in planning, teamwork, and community engagement.
After two months of competitive proposal entries, 10 teams were shortlisted and invited to pitch their ideas in a final live session held recently at Menara Maxis. Proposals were evaluated based on their feasibility, potential reach, impact on campus life, and how effectively they could engage and benefit the student community.
The panel of judges comprised industry leaders and creative minds, who were impressed by the calibre of ideas presented:
- “Some of the pitches were really good, showing strong creativity and bold ideas. Others still have room to grow, but overall, it’s encouraging to see such passion and effort from the students.” - John Lemon, Hausboom
- “One thing they all seem to share is confidence — a firm belief in their ideas and in their potential to make a difference. That confidence is encouraging and definitely a great foundation to build on.” - Fiza Ahkam, LOCCO
- “The passion and potential behind each pitch is undeniable” – Nur Adillah, TGV Cinemas
The winning teams are:
- Team Gegaqsters (Universiti Sains Malaysia, Nibong Tebal, Penang) with the idea of a vibrant festival combining a music concert, youth forum and sports competition.
“What we have planned is more than just an event, it’s a platform to bring students together, strengthen bonds, and make memories that will last a lifetime.” - Team JSP UiTM Jasin (Universiti Teknologi MARA, Jasin, Melaka) who proposed an outdoor sport and activities festival for all ages.
“We are super excited to execute our event concept and turn it into reality, creating the best memories for everyone.” - Team Jawatankuasa Perwakilan Kolej Sesi 2024/2025 (Universiti Teknologi MARA, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah) who plan to organise a 2-week festival with various activities.
“This is our first time receiving funding for our event, and we are excited to see how we can make it even better than before.”
“Hotlink Uni Legends is our way of giving the younger generations the space to lead, collaborate, and realise the pasti mampu spirit in bringing great ideas to life. We look forward to working closely with the winning team on their dream events, which will not only enrich the university experience for them but also for their fellow students across campus,” - Loh Keh Jiat, Chief Consumer Business Officer of Maxis
Hotlink provides budget-savvy consumers the biggest value at the lowest price through its Pasti Mampu prepaid and postpaid offerings. This pasti mampu spirit also drives Hotlink Uni Legends, a youth empowerment initiative now in its second year. While the inaugural edition in 2024 focused on esports, this year’s edition expanded its scope to creative event ideation—broadening the opportunities for students to showcase their leadership, communications skills and talents.
