Maxis Berhad (Maxis), Malaysia's leading integrated communications service provider, launched two 4G LTE smartphones today - the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One XL. These will be the first two smartphones to be activated on Maxis' 4G LTE network.

Suren J Amarasekera, Maxis' Joint Chief Operating Officer, enthused. "We are delighted to offer customers the opportunity to enjoy the first in a series of advanced 4G smartphones hitting the market this weekend. Available at Maxis Centres in KLCC and Taman Tun Dr Ismail, customers can purchase the Nokia Lumia 920 from only RM1,099 with SurfMore 75 plan or TalkMore78 with 3GB Mobile Internet and HTC One XL from RM1,199 with SurfMore 75 or TalkMore78 Plan with 3GB Mobile Internet. We look forward to launch more smartphones and tablets this year on Maxis' 4G LTE network, so customers can enjoy the most superior on-the-go experience."

Mark Dioguardi, Maxis' Joint Chief Operating Officer concurred. "With Maxis 4G LTE, customers will experience greater download speeds, smoother HD video streams and lag-free gaming with better online satisfaction. We are already getting very positive feedback from our friendly user trial with most participating customers reporting 'no buffering or lag in video experience and extremely reliable high speed broadband. We are working towards increasing our 4G LTE coverage areas so more customers can look forward to experiencing incredible speed soon. Through our strong partnership with leading device manufacturers and content players, Maxis is indeed well-placed to provide customers with a richer, on-the-go Internet experience."

Customers using Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One XL in 4G LTE coverage areas will enjoy speeds of up to 75Mbps, with typical speeds of 10 to 30Mbps, five to ten times faster than 3G. Outside of 4G LTE coverage areas, the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One XL phones will switch seamlessly onto Maxis' widest and most advanced 3G mobile network which reaches 82% of the population.

The Nokia Lumia 920 is positioned as Nokia's most innovative Lumia to date, boasting features such as Carl Zeiss lens, PureView technology with Optical Image Stabilisation and a 4.5" PureMotion HD+ display. On the other hand, the HTC One XL is the first smartphone in HTC's One series to feature ultra-fast 4G LTE connectivity. It boasts an elegant polycarbonate body that is less than 9 millimetres thick, a 4.7-inch HD display, packed with authentic Beats Audio™ and an amazing camera with low light excellence.

Maxis launched its 4G LTE service at the stroke of midnight on 1 January 2013, making it the first Malaysian telco to launch the service locally. Maxis' 4G LTE service is now available in selected parts of the Klang Valley including Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Damansara Utama, Desa Sri Hartamas, Bandar Puchong Jaya, Bandar Sunway and Cyberjaya.
