How do I save on calls to Malaysia while I’m abroad?

Use our Roam 120 service to enjoy better savings whenever you call home from overseas.

To use, dial *120*<country code><area code/mobile prefix><phone number># to call.

What number do I call if I need assistance while I’m abroad

If you need assistance while abroad, dial *123# from your mobile phone and our Customer Service attendant will call you back at no costs.

What is a Data Roam Pass?

The “Data Roam Pass” is a Roaming Internet pass that allows subscribers to have Internet browsing whilst travelling in overseas. It is a daily pass at RM38/day. The pass is available for both Mobile Internet & Wireless Broadband.

How do I subscribe to a Data Roam Pass?

You can automatically enjoy the data pass upon data usage RM38 on our preferred operator. Be sure to roam on our preferred operator to enjoy this feature. The pass will be automatically provisioned to you once you reached RM38 on data roaming. Alternatively, you may subscribe the pass via UMB: 

Dial *100# > 'International Roaming' > 'Country' and select 'Buy 1d Data Pass'.

Will I be informed on the subscription?

We will inform you via SMS when your pass has been successfully activated, for both manual and auto subscriptions. Alternatively, you can check via check status through *100#.

What does the Data Roam Pass offer?

The pass offers Mobile Internet Browsing when a subscriber is travelling abroad. The pass enables Mobile Internet browsing till midnite of visiting countries capital city time each day. Just like domestic passes, Fair Usage Policy 'FUP' applies during roaming i.e. Upon exhaustion of the respective pass fair usage quota, you will experience a reduced internet speed.

How much does the pass cost & what is the validity?

The Data Roam is RM38 per day. The pass is valid till midnite of the visiting countries capital city time e.g. If you are in Australia, the pass expires at 12 midnight Canberra time.

If I’ve reached my daily Fair Usage Quota, can I still do data roaming without any additional charges?

Yes. You can still continue browsing without any data charges even though you have reached your fair usage quota before time expiry of the pass. However, your Internet usage speed will be reduced till the end of the day.

Can I restore my Internet speed upon reaching the daily fair usage quota?

Yes. You can restore your Internet usage speed by buying a new Data Roam Pass @ RM38/day. To subscribe dial *100# > International Roaming > Country > Buy 1d Data Pass.

Can I unsubscribe from a Data Roam Pass?

No. the pass will expire automatically once the pass time duration has reached.

How many Data Roam Pass can I buy at one time?

There is no limit to the number of passes you can buy; the pass(s) are stackable i.e. you can buy as many even before the fair usage quota expires. However, please note that the pass is only valid for one day and expires at midnight of the visiting local country's capital city.

Can I use this pass in any phone e.g. iPhone/ Blackberry/ Android/ Windows/ iPad/ tablets?


How much do I have to pay if my usage exceeds the Fair Usage?

If you have exhausted your fair usage quota and still continue browsing , your internet browsing speed will be reduced till the pass expiry but these usages will NOT incur extra charges.

How do I keep track on my pass usage & expiry?

Quota expiry SMS notification will be sent to you once your quota expires and usage will be throttled at reduced speed; along with this, Maxis will also send a SMS notification upon pass expiry (at 11:59pm time of capital city). Alternatively, you can check both the pass validity & usage via 'check status'; Dial *100# > International Roaming > Check Status.

I have purchased DataRoam Pass in Singapore. Can I use the same pass in Thailand on the same day?

All DataRoam passes including the Add-Ons & TopUp are country specific Eg Singapore passes cannot be used in Thailand or other countries.

If you are traveling to multiple countries a day, you will need to activate DataRoam Pass for each country and browse on the respective preferred operators.

Can I use the Data Roam Pass in Malaysia?

No, these passes are exclusive for Roaming only.

How can I check the pass validity or usage?

You can check both the pass validity & usage via 'check status'; Dial *100# > International Roaming > Check Status

If I use data roaming without a pass, how much will I be charged?

You will be charged pay-per-use at RM38/MB.

I am multisim user. How does the data pass work for me?

For multi-SIM users, quota sharing of roaming data pass is now available for primary and secondary SIMs.

How can I manage my data charges?

We will send you notifications when your data roaming pay-per-use charges exceed certain thresholds; you can now personalise your threshold alert. This is a complimentary service.

The threshold options available are:

RM200, RM300, RM500

RM300, RM500, RM800 (default)

RM500, RM800, RM1000

RM800, RM1300, RM2000

To choose your threshold setting, call our Customer Service at *123# (for Free of Charge) if you need assistance.

The alert will be sent once your data roaming pay-per-use charges exceeds your selected thresholds within each Bill Cycle.

For Tablet Users:
If you use a tablet with data plan, you can also receive the threshold alert on your CBR (Can Be Reached) mobile number.

To receive this alert via the CBR mobile number, simply register it by calling our Customer Service at *123#.

We will not be able to send you threshold notifications if you do not provide a current CBR mobile number, and you might be exposed to the risk of bill shock.

The default monthly alerts for tablet users are at RM300, RM500, and RM800 based on your Bill Cycle.
