5G Standalone Network

Apple added this switch as part of the iOS 26.4 update. For the majority of our customers, particularly those on consumer mobile plans, your service continues on our 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) network for now. The switch will not change your mobile service unless you are subscribed to a specific 5G SA-enabled business plan

Yes, 5G SA requires an SA-capable SIM/eSIM, an SA-enabled plan, and SA network coverage. Currently, all Maxis Consumer mobile plans operate on the 5G NSA network. However, 5G SA is available for Business Customers on Business Postpaid 169 and 199 plans with the Priority Pass add-on.

Yes. 5G SA needs an SA-capable SIM/eSIM and an SA-enabled plan/profile, plus SA coverage. Maxis Mobile 5G plans today run on NSA; SA will apply to the upcoming Home/Business WiFi offerings.

No. Service follows Maxis enablement, not the phone’s country of purchase.

You can manage this setting by going to Settings > Mobile/Cellular > Mobile Data Options > Voice & Data, then toggling “5G Standalone & VoNR.” The effect of using this switch depends on your plan:
- Consumer: Your Maxis mobile service will remain on 5G (NSA) for now, regardless of the switch's position.
- Business Mobile Postpaid: If you are on a Business Postpaid 169 or 199 plan with the Priority Pass add-on, turning this switch on may enable 5G SA service in areas with SA coverage."

Yes. 5G (NSA) is the default for Maxis mobile, and you’ll continue to use it.

Priority Pass is an add-on for RM29 monthly subscription service that complements your existing MBP plan, giving you exclusive access to the Maxis 5G Pro network.
Upon subscription via Maxis business hub, a new 5G SIM card will be delivered to you, You may activate it via Maxis Business Hub upon receiving it and replace the SIM in your phone to use the 5G SA feature on your phone. Detailed FAQ here.
