Maxis enhances GenAI programme with BSTP and new partners to build future-ready AI generation

Maxis and the Educational Resources and Technology Division (Bahagian Sumber dan Teknologi Pendidikan (BSTP)), Ministry of Education (MoE) today launched the enhanced 2026 Program GenAI Maxis eKelas, a series of nationwide workshops aiming to equip over 32,000 pupils and teachers covering 400 schools with future-ready AI skills. Now in its second year, the programme shifts its focus from foundational literacy to practical, human-centric innovation.

The initiative builds on the momentum of its 2025 pilot, which successfully trained over 22,000 pupils and teachers nationwide. Participants in the pilot recorded an 80% median score increase in their understanding of AI, demonstrating the programme's effectiveness.

For 2026, the programme continues its dual-track model with tailored modules for pupils and teachers, supported by MoE teacher trainers. Additionally, Maxis will work with BSTP to showcase teachers' best practices of GenAI integration in teaching and learning.

While continuing to cover core topics such as introduction to GenAI, prompt engineering, and GenAI ethics, the programme is enhanced with vibe-coding project modules. This new component challenges pupils to master advanced prompt engineering skills, using GenAI tools for digital creation and active problem-solving.

As a testament to impactful public-private partnerships, the programme is further strengthened by an expanded ecosystem of partners, including Canva Education, Google for Education, and Schola by Creador Foundation. Sharing Maxis' belief in the importance of future-ready AI upskilling, these partners are contributing content and support around GenAI tools.

The programme's second year was officially launched at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (L) Methodist Sentul, Kuala Lumpur. 80 pupils from Form 2 to Form 5 were among the first batch of pupils to undertake the new programme module.
