Maxis celebrates meaningful connections this Gawai and Kaamatan

- In conjunction with Gawai, Maxis organised a CSR event in collaboration with the Sibu Autistic Association (SAA) in Sibu, Sarawak.
- In the spirit of Kaamatan, Maxis hosted a convoy to the Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) in Penampang, Sabah, to engage local communities while highlighting our reliable connection throughout the festive celebrations.
- Celebrating both festivals, Maxis produced two brand films centred on the strength of support and connection in everyday life.
Maxis embraced the spirit of unity and connection during the recent Gawai and Kaamatan festivals, curating celebrations in Sabah and Sarawak that highlighted the essence of these cherished traditions and underscored its commitment to all Malaysians. This commitment is reflected in our reliable presence for customers during the festive season, supported by our fast and secure network.
In conjunction with Gawai, Maxis partnered with the Sibu Autistic Association (SAA) for a meaningful CSR event themed “Gayu Guru Gerai Nyamai Saa bersama Raikan Gawai 2025.” Founded in 2000 by parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), SAA is dedicated to creating a supportive environment and raising public awareness to promote the societal inclusion of children with ASD.
The event brought together parents, children and community members for a day of celebration, involving local dance performances, interactive games, and lucky draws. Maxis also contributed essential therapy equipment to the association and presented each child with gift vouchers, further underscoring Maxis' commitment to community engagement.

Over in Sabah, Maxis joined in the festivities by continuing to be a main sponsor for the highly anticipated annual Kaamatan Harvest Festival at the Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA). Visitors to the Maxis booth enjoyed interactive games, special festive offers, alongside a meet-and-greet with Unduk Ngadau pageants.
To make this year’s celebration more exciting, Maxis initiated a convoy that journeyed from Benoni Town, Papar, through the iconic Monsopiad Heritage Village, where participants enjoyed immersive cultural performances, finally culminating at the KDCA. Maxis' secure and reliable connection played a crucial role in facilitating real-time communication and coordination throughout the initiative, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Featuring local Kupi Kupi FM DJs, the convoy saw participants celebrating their cultural heritage and togetherness with engaging photo sessions along the way. The celebration was further enriched by local influencers engaged by Maxis such as Elica Paujin, Daus Batjo, Skye Judith, Marie Ann Cheah, and Tommy Gedeus, who connected with the community.
"At Maxis, connection goes beyond technology. It's about the relationships we nurture and the important moments we share. These initiatives exemplify our commitment to engaging the communities we serve and building connections with lasting value. This Kaamatan and Gawai, Maxis proudly celebrates the shared heritage and the deep bonds that truly unite Malaysians." - Loh Keh Jiat, Chief Consumer Business Officer of Maxis
In commemorating the festive celebrations, Maxis released two heartwarming brand films. One depicted a couple navigating challenges to celebrate their first Gawai together, while the other beautifully illustrated a young Dusun girl discovering her confidence through connection during Kaamatan. Both films poignantly conveyed Maxis' belief in supporting meaningful moments, uniting families and communities across Malaysia.
Maxis extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who joined in honouring the spirit of Gawai and Kaamatan and looks forward to fostering the warmth of connection that brings Malaysians together.
