Statement on service restoration following tower fire incident in Kuala Kangsar, Perak  

Maxis Berhad (Maxis) wishes to update that services have been fully restored for affected customers following the fire incident at our telecommunications tower site in Kampung Kelebor, Kuala Kangsar, Perak on 27 December 2025.

Telecommunications services were restored in stages, with full restoration achieved by 1:03 am on 29 December 2025. This includes all services shared via the Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) arrangement.

Upon confirming that the tower remained structurally sound, our technical team immediately proceeded to replace damaged radio equipment. This measure restored connectivity to the affected site as well as four linked sites, resolving the disruption for approximately 3,000 affected customers in the surrounding area and highway users.

We are working closely with Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia (JBPM) and the relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the fire.

Maxis also acknowledges the statement on this incident issued by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on 28 December 2025. We reaffirm our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of network safety and reliability. We will continue to adhere to rigorous maintenance protocols, conduct regular technical inspections, and ensure continuous monitoring of our network infrastructure.
