  • The partnership leverages both organisation’s combined strength to provide compelling digital solutions for businesses in Malaysia through three key areas to accelerate the adoption of innovative digital solutions
  • The partnership accelerates Maxis’ ambition towards becoming Malaysia’s leading converged solutions provider for Enterprise, Government & SMEs

In line with its ambition to be the leading ICT and solutions provider for Enterprise customers, Maxis is proud to announce its collaboration with Microsoft (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Microsoft) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), committing to use their respective expertise, technology and capabilities to create innovative digital solutions for organisations in Malaysia. Concurrently, the collaboration makes Maxis the first telco in Malaysia to offer fixed line voice calls with Microsoft Teams unified communications, as part of Microsoft’s Modern Workplace solutions.

The MoU will see both these leaders collaborate in three key areas, targeting both commercial enterprises and the public sector.

First, Maxis’ leadership in IoT and 5G, and Microsoft’s cutting-edge Azure IoT technology will enable industries to build smart utilities and other connected applications. This will drive economic growth and digitalisation in Malaysia as the country moves to becoming a smart city, in every city.

Second, the partnership will also leverage Microsoft Azure public cloud and Azure Stack services to enhance Maxis cloud services and meet the hybrid cloud needs of businesses in Malaysia. Maxis’ ambition to be a one-stop-solution provider for IoT solutions for businesses is a crucial outcome of this collaboration. Businesses will be able to create new industrial IoT applications faster and leverage data analytics to solve their most pressing business problems and market needs.

Third, Maxis will adopt Microsoft’s Modern Workplace solutions, which include Microsoft Teams, giving their employees the ability and flexibility to integrate their work, life and family. This includes the ability and processes to work from anywhere with a network connection, at a time that works for both the employee and the business and across multiple devices. The proven business benefits of embracing this workplace of the future mindset, is enhanced productivity, a results driven employee experience, where people are assessed on their deliverables not how long they are at their desks and finally, quality time with their loved ones. Leading by example, Maxis will use their internal transformation journey as a demonstration of the application of the Modern Workplace culture, to help inspire businesses and organisations to follow suit.

“One of the key pillars of our growth journey and convergence ambition has been around strategic partnerships with some of the best in the industry to deliver more value to businesses in Malaysia. With IR4.0 increasingly demanding for agility for the modern workforce, our partnership with Microsoft comes at a critical time. Cloud-based solutions enable a whole new level of work and collaboration, which will be an important driver in accelerating change within the fast-evolving business landscape,” said Paul McManus, Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Maxis.

“For over 30 years, Microsoft has been partnering with Malaysia and other countries in the region to enable businesses, governments and people adopt innovation and digital transformation. According to a study by Microsoft and IDC, digital transformation will add an estimated US$10 billion to Malaysia’s GDP by 2021. We are excited to get into this partnership with Maxis, so Malaysian businesses will have access to the most innovative solutions from our respective expertise in technologies like cloud, IoT and 5G,” said Nate Harris, General Manager for Cloud,  Microsoft, Asia Pacific.

The MoU will also see Microsoft share its knowledge and expertise in the field of IoT and Cloud technology, to continuously diversify the applications of Maxis’ offerings in areas such as the development of smart cities, smart utilities and other connected solutions.

Maxis’ converged offerings are built around an “Always On” proposition, leveraging its unique Fixed and Mobile network.
