Homes Receive RM10,000 Each, Thanks To Maxis’ Digitally Empowered Campaign

It was truly a moment where Malaysians came together for a good cause. Following its ‘Share The Light Campaign’ held last month in conjunction with Deepavali, 10 homes around the country received RM10,000 each, as a result of Maxis’ digitally-empowered ‘Share The Light’ campaign.

Maxis had earlier teamed up with LINE to empower Malaysians to donate digitally in the spirit of the festive season. The public just needed to view the “Share The Light” video and download free Deepavali stickers from LINE. For every single download, Maxis pledged to donate RM1 to 10 selected children’s homes around the country. Downloads had surpassed the 100,000 mark.

“We are touched by the huge response that we received for this campaign. We were able to create a positive impact and empower Malaysians to use a digital platform to do their bit for charity.” said Dushyan Vaithiyanathan, Maxis’ Head of Consumer Business.

Besides presenting the cheques to the homes by the respective Heads of Region, Maxis staff also organized games and activities for residents, which comprised mainly of young children. The homes included Vision Home (Perak), Bethel Children (Johor), Sunshine Cottage (Kedah), Angels Children’s Home (Kuala Lumpur), Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Sayang (Selangor), Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal (Pahang), Handicapped & Mentally Disabled Children’s Centre (Melaka), Shan Children’s Home and Children’s Protection Society (Penang); and Rumag Kebajikan Karunai Illam Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur).
