How reliable is 5G coverage in rural regions of Malaysia?

In rural areas of Malaysia, Maxis 4G remains the primary and most reliable connectivity option. Our 4G network covers 96% of Malaysia’s population across more than 11,000 network sites. Supported by 24/7 monitoring and resilient infrastructure, customers can enjoy consistent connectivity even in lower-density areas. 5G coverage in Malaysia is currently expanding under Digital Nasional Berhad’s (DNB) national rollout programme and is primarily available in urban and suburban areas. While rural areas are included in the ongoing expansion plans, 4G remains the primary network serving most rural locations today. If you’re in a rural area and unsure about coverage in your location, you can check both 4G and 5G availability using our mobile coverage map at https://www.maxis.com.my/en/about-maxis/maxis-network/network-map/.
