Maxis Travel Care

COVERAGE & ELIGIBILITY

  • Maxis Travel Care is a complimentary travel insurance product that provides compensation in the events of travel inconvenience, sickness, injury, accidental disability or death during the trip. Besides, it also provides automatic extension for delayed return and protection against missed events and for damaged/ non-delivery of shopping items. This travel insurance is complimentary with purchase of an eligible roaming pass through redemption where no premium will be charged to you.

    Maxis Travel Care is underwritten by AIA General Berhad and can only be redeemed through Maxis’ platform when you purchase an eligible Maxis roaming pass. Maxis Broadband Sdn. Bhd. is the master policyholder of the product and is distributed by Maxis Broadband Sdn. Bhd. as AIA General Berhad’s corporate agent.

  • The following Maxis roaming passes are eligible for complimentary Maxis Travel Care:

    1. 7 days ASEAN Data Pass
    2. 7 days APAC Data Pass
    3. 15 Days Multi country Data Pass
    4. 30 Days Multi country Data Pass
  • You can redeem Maxis Travel Care if you are:

    • Malaysian whose age (last birthday) 18 years old or above; and
    • Main Account or principal line or supplementary line holder of the eligible Account registered with Maxis.
  • You can be covered by Maxis Travel Care if you are:

    • Child: Entry age (last birthday) between 30 days and 17 years old;
    • Adult: Entry age (last birthday) between 18 and 70 years old; and
    • Malaysian; and
    • Main Account or principal line or supplementary line holder of the eligible Account registered with Maxis.


    Note: For an Insured Person who is a child, the holder must be his/her parent or guardian.

  • You are covered during your trip within the same area of coverage as your Maxis roaming pass. The coverage period commences from whichever the following occurs later:

    • the time you activated your Maxis roaming pass or
    • the time you leave your home or place of work in Malaysia or
    • starts from the Effective Date of Coverage as stated in the Certificate of Insurance;


    until the time you return in Malaysia, and ceases on whichever of the following occurs first:

    • the Expiry Date of Coverage as specified in the Certificate of Insurance;
    • your arrival at home or place of work in Malaysia; or
    • 24 hours after your arrival in Malaysia.  
  • Maxis Travel Care covers the countries based on the area of coverage categorized as follows:

    APAC Armenia, Australia, Azerbajian, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China (including Hong Kong, Macau, Mongolia and Tibet), India, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kuwait, Kyrgzstan, Laos, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan-Province of China, Tajikistan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam only
    WORLDWIDE All countries listed under Maxis Multi Country Data Pass excluding Excluded Countries
    Excluded Countries Afghanistan, Belarus, Crimea (including Sevastopol), Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Liberia, Nepal, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, or Zimbabwe and all other sanctioned and war declared countries.
  • Maxis Broadband Sdn. Bhd. is a registered corporate agent of AIA General Berhad. The insurance policy is underwritten by AIA General Berhad.

REDEMPTION

  • You may follow the following steps:

    • Update your Maxis app to version 9.0 or higher.
    • Purchase an eligible Maxis roaming pass.
    • To redeem the travel coverage, click on “Redeem Now” at the end of your roaming pass purchase journey.
    • Provide the traveller(s)’ details for the insurance application submission to AIA.


    Note: Redemption is only available immediately after your Maxis roaming pass purchase. No redemption is allowed if you missed it.

  • Upon successful activation of your roaming pass and approval by AIA, you will receive your e-certificate of insurance via email with:

    • Certificate Number
    • Period of Insurance (same date and time as your roaming pass)
    • Area of Coverage
    • Coverage details as stated in the Policy Wording and Product Disclosure Sheet.

  • Yes, each Maxis account can redeem Maxis Travel Care for yourself (as the principal line holder) and your family or a group of maximum 7 persons (as the supplementary line holders) who are travelling on the same trip, provided that the principal/supplementary lines have purchased a Maxis roaming pass.

    Kindly note that only an individual aged above 18 years old are allowed to redeem Maxis Travel Care. The Redeemer does not need to be travelling with the Insured Person(s).

  • No, each person is only eligible to be covered under one (1) in-force and active certificate of insurance at any time for the same trip. In the event the Insured Person is covered by mutiple certificates of insurance, the Insurer will pay for one claim only. However, you can redeem multiple Maxis Travel Care certificate of insurance covering different trips.

    Example:
    You will have two (2) Maxis Travel Care certificates of insurance under the following scenarios:

    1. You purchased a 7 days ASEAN roaming pass for the period of 1 December 2025 to 7 December 2025 and redeemed Maxis Travel Care; and
    2. You purchased a 7 days APAC roaming pass for the period of 5 December 2025 to 10 December 2025 and redeemed Maxis Travel Care.


    You will be isssued with two (2) Maxis Travel Care certificates of insurance for respective trips as mentioned above. However, if a claim occurs between 5 to 7 December 2025, you are only eligible for one claim.

CLAIMS & EXCLUSIONS

  • You may follow the following steps:

    • Complete the claim submission webpage via the link provided in your e-certificate email. (note: must submit within 30 days from the incident date, immediately for death claim)
    • Provide required supporting claim documents. Refer to the policy contract here for the detailed list of claims supporting documents required.


    All claims will be processed within 3 to 5 working days upon successful and complete submission of the claim.

    Payments will be made by AIA directly. Payment for all benefits (except death benefit) will be paid to the Insured Person (or parents/legal guardian of the child insured). Payment for death benefit will be made to the Nominee or the Estate.

  • It means a sickness or condition that occurred before the effective date of coverage.

  • AIA will not pay for any claim in respect of the following:

    • Baggage delay not reported immediately upon delivery to the common carrier;
    • Baggage legally delayed, held, detain or confiscated by customs, immigration and/or other public authorities;
    • Insured Person failure to obtain a written confirmation from the operator of common carrier on the baggage delivery time;
    • Less than 3 consecutive hours of delay.


    Note: The list is not exhaustive. Kindly refer to the policy contract here for the full list of exclusions applicable to Baggage Delay.

POLICY SERVICING

  • Yes, you may cancel your Maxis Travel Care certificate of insurance at any time by contacting AIA Online Customer Service via email at my.aiaonline@aia.com provided that you have not made a claim on the certificate. Please refer to the policy contract here for the terms and conditions of the cancellation clause.

  • No, the coverage will not terminate immediately. Coverage will remain in force/ active until the expiry of the certificate for the Insured Person. However, the Insured Person will not be eligible to redeem the insurance again for the next trip after the current certificate of insurance expires.

  • It is important that you inform us of any change on your contact details. You may request to update your personal details by contacting AIA Online Customer Service via email at my.aiaonline@aia.com during the operations hours (8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Mon to Thu, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Fri, excluding public holidays).

  • No, you are not allowed to change your travel date(s) after you have received your Maxis Travel Care certificate of insurance.

  • As per Government regulations all persons should be given the option to nominate beneficiary upon obtaining an insurance certificate. With a beneficiary nominated upfront, it will ease the claims process and approval for accidental death claim. You can nominate anyone, but the nominee has to be a person/individual. You cannot put an organization as a nominee.
