About Data Boosters

  • A Data Booster is an optional add-on that gives you extra high-speed data while roaming, in addition to the quota from an eligible Long Validity Data Roaming Pass.

    There are two types:

    • Data Roam Booster: A one-time 2GB of high-speed data, valid for 24 hours. Choose this for extra data over a short period.
    • Trip-based Booster Pass: An additional 3GB of high-speed data per day for the remaining validity of the matching eligible Long Validity Data Roaming Pass. Choose this if you expect to need more data throughout your trip.
  • Type Booster Pass Price Matching Long Validity Data Roaming Pass Data and validity
Short-term Data Roam Booster RM9 Any active pass with 3–30 days’ validity 2GB, valid for 24 hours
Trip-based ASEAN Booster Pass RM21 7-Day ASEAN Pass Additional 3GB per day; validity follows the matching roaming pass
Trip-based APAC Booster Pass RM28 7-Day APAC Pass Additional 3GB per day; validity follows the matching roaming pass
Trip-based Multi-country Booster Pass RM45 15-Day Multi-country Data Pass Additional 3GB per day; validity follows the matching roaming pass
Trip-based Multi-country Booster Pass Plus RM90 30-Day Multi-country Data Pass Additional 3GB per day; validity follows the matching roaming pass

The trip-based booster adds 3GB to the matching pass’s 2GB daily high-speed quota, giving you up to 5GB of high-speed data per day.

Data Booster pricing is fixed and not prorated. The full fee applies regardless of when you buy it during the active roaming pass period.

  • Data Boosters are available on Maxis Postpaid and Maxis Postpaid Legacy plans.

They are not available on Hotlink Prepaid or Postpaid plans or Maxis Business plans.

  • You can buy a Data Booster through the Maxis app:

    1. Open the app and select the mobile line with an active Long Validity Data Roaming Pass.
    2. Look for the Booster Pass Add-on banner or the Add Booster Pass button in the active pass details.
    3. Follow the prompts to review and confirm your purchase.

The booster option will appear only when the selected line has an active eligible pass. You can also select a trip-based Booster Pass when buying its matching eligible Long Validity Data Roaming Pass.

  • No. You need an active eligible Long Validity Data Roaming Pass to buy a Data Roam Booster. A trip-based Booster Pass must match its eligible roaming pass. See the table above for the matching passes.

  • You can buy multiple short-term Data Roam Boosters.

For a trip-based Booster Pass, you can have only one active Booster Pass that corresponds to your eligible Long Validity Data Roaming Pass.

  • If you have a trip-based Booster Pass, its additional 3GB daily quota will be used before the quota from your Long Validity Data Roaming Pass.

For example, with a 7-Day ASEAN Pass and an ASEAN Booster Pass, the first 3GB of high-speed data used each day will come from the Booster Pass. After that, usage will come from the roaming pass’s 2GB daily quota, giving you up to 5GB of high-speed data for the day.

If you have multiple roaming data quotas, the quota with the earliest expiry date and time will be used first.

  • After the combined daily quota is used up, you can continue browsing at speeds of up to 1Mbps until the next daily quota refresh or until your pass expires.

  • When your Data Booster expires, its additional high-speed data will no longer be available.

You can continue using any quota remaining from an active roaming pass. If you do not have an active roaming pass, roaming usage may automatically activate an available 1-Day Roaming Pass, where applicable.

If you need extra high-speed data for a short period, you can buy the RM9 Data Roam Booster, which provides 2GB of high-speed data for 24 hours.

Scheduled Booster Passes

  • A Booster Pass cannot be scheduled on its own. You can select a trip-based Booster Pass when scheduling its matching eligible Long Validity Data Roaming Pass. It will activate at the same time as the roaming pass.

  • If you cancel a scheduled Long Validity Data Roaming Pass, ALL scheduled Booster Passes in your line will be cancelled automatically.

  • If you cancel a scheduled Long Validity Data Roaming Pass, ALL scheduled Booster Passes in your account will be cancelled automatically, including those linked to other scheduled roaming passes.

    For example, you have:

    • A scheduled 15-Day Multi-country Data Pass for a work trip to the UK; and
    • A scheduled 7-Day APAC Pass with an APAC Booster Pass for a trip to Japan.

If you cancel the scheduled 15-Day Multi-country Data Pass, the scheduled APAC Booster Pass will also be cancelled.

To use the APAC Booster Pass for your Japan trip, schedule a new 7-Day APAC Pass together with a new APAC Booster Pass.
