Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) is a service that uses Voice over IP (VoIP) technologies, allows you to make quality voice calls using WiFi connections instead of mobile network signals. It works without requiring any special app.

VoWiFi lets you make and receive calls over WiFi when mobile signal is limited or absent. Calls can continue without interruption as you move between 4G coverage and WiFi networks.

Since 16 December 2021, all Maxis Postpaid & Hotlink customers are automatically provisioned with VoWiFi service. You just need to ensure your phone is compatible and enable it at the settings.

Different phones may have different steps to enable VoWiFi.
In general:
From your phone, click at SETTINGS > MOBILE NETWORK > Enable WiFi Calling/VoWiFi
If your phone does not have this option, it may not support Maxis VoWiFi. Do ensure that your phone is updated with the latest software.

Calls within Malaysia are charged according to your rate plan. If your plan includes voice minutes, VoWiFi calls will use those minutes. Otherwise, you'll be charged at Pay-Per-Use rates.

No, VoWiFi calls do not utilize any data quota.

Yes, you will be able to make VoWiFi calls and browse at the same time as long you connected to a WiFi network.

VoLTE is Voice over LTE, it uses the 4G network and offers superior voice quality with multitasking capabilities. VoWiFi is voice of WiFi uses WiFi networks and improves call reliability indoors regardless of mobile signal strength.

Since VoWiFi depends on WiFi signal strength, position your router in an optimal location. Call quality may lag in crowded venues with inadequate WiFi signal strength.
