Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MoE), this initiative empowers underprivileged students to excel in SPM while equipping them for higher education.
The inaugural cohort achieved encouraging SPM results despite being on a three-month fast-track. Compared to their trial examinations, top scorers achieving 7As and above doubled to 33%, including four students who attained 9As or more. In addition, Maxis is awarding a total of RM50,000 in education grants to the top performers, providing essential support in continuing their studies.
Officiated by Tuan Zainal Abas, Deputy Director-General of Education Malaysia (School Operations Sector), MoE, the ceremony also welcomed 200 new students into the programme, bringing the total 2026 cohort to 400. Datuk Johan Idris, Chairman of Maxis, was also present to congratulate the students and share words of encouragement.
Beyond academic tutoring, Menuju Gemilang prepares students for higher education through STEM camps and leadership bootcamps. To ensure continuous support, the initiative has been extended from 18 to 24 months to provide post-SPM guidance on education pathways and scholarship opportunities. Each student is also provided with laptops for use both during the programme and after as they further their studies.
“Every student deserves the opportunity to succeed. Aligning with the Malaysian Education Plan 2026-2035 (Rancangan Pendidikan Malaysia 2026-2035), our partnership with Maxis empowers underserved youths to become skilled, well-rounded individuals ready for university life. Today’s graduates prove what is possible given the right support, and I hope they inspire the next cohort to aim even higher,” - Tuan Zainal

Beyond academic results, two top scorers from the programme shared how Menuju Gemilang empowered them with the necessary confidence to pursue their ambitions.
“Menuju Gemilang helped me realise that university was not just a dream, but something I could genuinely work towards. The programme was not only about improving my grades but also about recognising my true potential. I am now looking forward to studying agriculture at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), where I hope to gain the knowledge to improve my family’s farm,” - Chua Pak Ron, who achieved 10As and is currently continuing his studies in Kolej Matrikulasi Melaka
“Menuju Gemilang significantly improved my academic performance, especially in subjects such as Sejarah, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The tutors helped strengthen my understanding of the fundamentals and refined my answering techniques, giving me greater confidence in tackling my exams. Inspired by this experience, I am determined to pursue Actuarial Science at Universiti Malaya,” - Lan You An, who scored 10As and is currently enrolled at Kolej Matrikulasi Selangor
Menuju Gemilang is an expansion of Maxis eKelas, the company’s flagship digital learning initiative for B40 communities. Launched in 2025, the programme welcomed 240 students from 20 MoE-selected schools across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Sarawak. Participants were chosen based on academic performance, extracurricular involvement and leadership potential.
