SMS Content Subscription

SMS Content Subscriptions refer to digital content services that customers can subscribe to via SMS, WAP, or Web portals. Sent using 5 digits short codes; 2xxxx or 3xxxx.
SMS content subscriptions are available in two main types:
- Pay-Per-Use Services
One-time purchases charged only when you request specific content, examples include:- TV interactive SMS voting
- SMS voting services
- Checking summons
- Subscription-Based Services
- Requires registration via SMS to activate ongoing service
- Provides automatic updates without needing to request each one
- Subscription process:
- Send an SMS with the required keyword to the provider's short code
- Wait for a confirmation message from the provider
- Once confirmed, your subscription is active
Not related to Pay with Maxis or Pay with Hotlink subscriptions via app stores
- Pay-Per-Use Services

Short codes allow businesses to send and receive text messages quickly and efficiently. They're often used for marketing campaigns, customer support, and other interactive services.

SMS content subscription can be done via the following subscription channels:
- SMS: Subscribing by replying to a marketing SMS or sending an SMS with a specific keyword to the content provider's short code
- WAP: Wireless Application Protocol billing that will charge any purchases directly to the mobile phone bill (alternative to debit/credit cards and premium SMS)
- Web: Access to restricted website content that requires membership signup and often payment

Charges may vary depending on the service that you have subscribed for.

You can easily manage or stop your short code subscriptions using one of the following methods:
- Via the Maxis or Hotlink App You can view and manage all your subscriptions directly within our apps.
- For Maxis App users: Navigate to All Features > Add-ons > Manage SMS Content Subscription.
- For Hotlink App users: Navigate to myHotlink> Service Settings > Manage Shortcode SMS Subscription.
Once there, you will see a list of your active subscriptions. You can select the option to Block the service.
- Via SMS To stop all subscriptions from a specific short code (e.g., those starting with 2XXXX or 3XXXX), simply send the command below to the number you wish to unsubscribe from: STOP ALL
Important Note: Please be aware that blocking a short code service will also unsubscribe you from it. Should you wish to use that service again in the future, you will need to contact our Customer Service team to have it unblocked.
