Maxis builds future technology and innovation leaders with new scholarships

Following the launch of three new scholarships in July, Maxis was proud to announce the award of these scholarships to 15 bright and deserving individuals to support their academic aspirations.

The individuals who received the scholarships were announced at a virtual ceremony yesterday, as follows:

Announcing the new scholars for the three categories were Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad bin Raja Tun Uda, Maxis’ Chairman; Gokhan Ogut, Maxis’ Chief Executive Officer; and Natalia Navin, Maxis’ Chief Human Resource Officer, while parents and family members tuned in to watch the ceremony online.

Our scholarships are an important part of this ambition, and in line with our brand purpose to bring together the best of technologies to help people, businesses and the nation to Always Be Ahead in a changing world,” said Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad.

“In accelerating our vision to become Malaysia’s Leading Converged Solutions Provider, Maxis’ growth strategy includes having the right talent with a highly transformative and technology-driven mindset. We are thrilled that our scholars have chosen to chart their academic and career course with us, and we look forward to providing them an environment where they will be able to explore their creativity, develop their skills, and grow along with us,” said Gokhan.

“The environment today continues to evolve and create new demands and opportunities – from having a more astute sense of technology, to nurturing future leaders and greater opportunities for women to lead in industries such as ours. We are eager to have the best talent onboard to be part of our exciting journey of growth,” said Natalia.

After receiving an overwhelming response in submissions, the candidates underwent a fully virtual selection process in stages, which included rigorous assessments, group activities and interviews. The 15 Maxis scholars will have access to the best learning experiences at reputable universities approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). In addition, they will benefit from internship and employment opportunities with Maxis to springboard their career paths to the next level, ultimately benefitting the growing need for a technology and innovation talent pool in the ICT and business sectors.

Maxis has been awarding scholarships since 2006 and has offered many bright and deserving individuals the opportunity to further their education in fields that are relevant to the needs of the times.

To ensure its people are future-ready, Maxis’ scholarship and management trainee programmes focus on young talents with the right skills and attitude. In July 2019, Maxis organised its first Career Fair that is unlike any other. Designed with participation and an immersive experience in mind, it comprised "speed-dating" type interviews as well as various showcases, such as IoT, NB-IoT and AI, to demonstrate what the company is all about. The Career Fair also gave young job seekers the opportunity to meet the telco as a potential employer.
