Maxis Brings Cheer To Students Of SJKT Ladang Escot In Conjunction With Deepavali
In conjunction with Deepavali this year, more than 40 Maxis employees headed to SJKT Ladang Escot in Tanjung Malim, to help give the school a makeover and bring joy to the students as part of Maxis’ Deepavali Festive Charity 2018.
During the one-day event, Maxis’ volunteers, M Squad, took on different tasks, including cleaning the school’s storage areas to create space for a new classroom for Year Six students, as well as a study area for students and teachers’ meeting room. Maxis also equipped the school’s ICT room with six new PCs, WiFi broadband, a flatscreen TV and printer. The school children were later treated to a sumptuous lunch as well as goodies.
As education has always been at the heart of Maxis’ community efforts, M Squad volunteers also conducted a Google ‘Be Internet Awesome’ Workshop for the students and teachers. The training session taught the importance of security and passwords, responding to cyberbullying, and trustable information, which is relevant to today’s society, especially the youth.
“Participating in this year’s Deepavali charity event was indeed a rewarding experience, especially for all the employees who volunteered their time for this noble cause. The students and teachers were so welcoming and opened their doors, allowing us to engage and understand their connectivity needs. We are pleased to have been able to play a small role in helping the community with these technology needs,” said Gokhan Ogut, Maxis’ Chief Operating Officer.
“No words could possibly express how happy I was when I was informed that our school had been chosen by Maxis to create an even more conducive environment for our students. I thank the Maxis volunteers who helped in making my dream come true, and everyone who have made this day a success,” said Parameswary Nadesan, Headmistress, SJKT Ladang Escot.
It was a bright and breezy Saturday morning at Kampung Quop, Kuching, Sarawak. Daphne Xandria with 19 of her Year 6 school friends were heading to the Pusat Internet to have their first experience learning about fractions with eCikgu.
