Maxis spreads Christmas joy to Penampang, Sabah Community Learning Centres
Maxis in collaboration with PACOS Trust recently spread Christmas cheer by hosting a corporate social responsibility festive celebration that brought together 160+ students and parents from Community Learning Centres (CLCs) based in Penampang, Sabah.
PACOS Trust is a nonprofit community organisation dedicated to uplifting indigenous communities in the state.
Students and their family members received gift packs from Maxis that contained back-to-school essentials such as stationery, school bags, vouchers for school necessities, and food items, in preparation for the upcoming new school year.
In line with Maxis’ commitment to championing education and community empowerment, eight refurbished laptops were donated to four of PACOS Trust’s CLCs: Kampung Kibunut, Kipouvo, Kalampun, and Minusoh. These would serve as tools to meet their digital learning needs while enabling students to access Maxis’ free flagship digital learning programme, eKelas. The centres also received new whiteboards and painting supplies to refurbish their learning environment.
Maxis’ delegation was led by the Head of Region for East Malaysia, Bhaarathyraja A/L Thanapal together with 11 Maxis mSquad volunteers. Festive cheer was also brought with a series of Christmas themed activities and games to engage everyone in a meaningful time of celebration, ending with a delicious buffet lunch spread.
We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute positively to our community friends in Sabah this Christmas season. We hope our collaboration with PACOS Trust goes a long way toward addressing the educational needs of the community, - Mariam Bevi Batcha, Maxis Chief Corporate Affairs Officer
We appreciate all the support that Maxis has given to our community here in Sabah, especially for all the donation and contribution given to the students and parents from our CLCs, - Anne Lasimbang, Executive Director of PACOS Trust
