The telecommunications industry is committed to empowering Malaysians and our children to stay connected to productivity and education resources while staying safe with loved ones in this new normal. As such, we are pleased to inform you that the FREE daily internet of 1GB daily can now be redeemed 24 hours every day. You may continue to use this free data for learning and productivity tools as well as most browsing needs, except for social media, video streaming, gaming and music streaming. This free daily internet is additional data given to you on top of your existing data allocated in your individual plans. It is a joint industry initiative, which was announced as part of the Short-Term Economic Recovery Plan (ERP) by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The offer will be available to all our active customers from 3 July until 31 December 2020. The pass can be redeemed daily at any time and is valid for use for 24 hours (previously 8am to 6pm) through the Maxis app, Hotlink app, Hotlink Postpaid app, and Maxis Business app.

Additionally, access to key government apps including MySejahtera and MyTrace, governmental sites and all calls to Ministry of Health and Crisis Preparedness Response Centre will continue to be free.

Is this new daily 1GB Productivity Internet offered for free?
Yes. As many Malaysians will continue to work and learn from home, and aligned with the government’s short-term recovery plan, mobile service providers namely Celcom Axiata Berhad (“Celcom”), Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (“Digi”), Maxis Berhad (“Maxis”), U Mobile Sdn Bhd (“U Mobile”) and unifi mobile will continue to support the rakyat’s work and learning needs. This offer is dedicated to access a range of productivity and information-related services.

Can this free daily 1GB Productivity Internet be used throughout the day?
Yes. To continue supporting productivity related services, service providers in partnership with MCMC, have decided to extend the free daily 1GB Productivity Internet offering to 24 hours, from the existing 8 am to 6 pm.

When will the 24 hour free daily 1GB Productivity Internet be made available?
Active customers can enjoy it from 1 July 2020 until 31 December 2020, subject to technical readiness of the respective service providers.

Who will be able to enjoy this free daily 1GB Productivity Internet offer?
All active postpaid and prepaid customers of Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile and unifi mobile will be able to enjoy this service from their respective service providers except those who are on unlimited data plans, fibre and home wireless plans. Customers may refer to their respective service providers to check on their eligibility for this offer.

How much data can a customer redeem?
Customers can redeem up to 30GB data per month for free (1GB daily), subject to redemption process determined by their respective service providers. The free daily 1GB Productivity Internet offer is provided to customers over and above their existing data quota. For example, if a customer has already subscribed to a monthly 30GB package, the customer will get an additional 1GB per day at no additional charge.

How long can customers enjoy the free daily 1GB Productivity Internet offer?
This offer is available for redemption until 31 December 2020.

Which data quota will be utilised first? The free daily 1GB Productivity Internet or my existing data plan quota?

  • Your internet usages (excluding on sites and apps which are not covered by the pass) will be utilised from your free daily 1GB.
  • Once your free daily 1GB Productivity quota is exhausted, your internet usages will be drawn from other valid Mobile Internet passes.
  • In case you don’t have an active Mobile Internet pass or FREE basic internet, your internet usages will be on Pay Per Use.
  • This applies for all Maxis & Hotlink plans.

What happens to my unused free daily 1GB Productivity Internet data after 24 hours?
Unused data cannot be carried forward to the next day.

What information-related apps/services/websites that provide zero-rated access?
Service providers will also continue to offer free and unlimited access to a range of information-related apps and services to ensure Malaysians stay updated on the latest credible news on COVID-19.

Customers will continue to enjoy zero-rated unlimited access to the following applications and services for the same duration: Gerak Malaysia, MySejahtera and MyTrace applications, and important health and news sources such as Ministry of Health (MOH) and World Health Organisation (WHO) websites; and free calls to the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CRPC) hotline.

How do customers get access to non-productivity related services?
Customers who wish to access videos, social media, gaming and music sites may continue to do so by utilising their existing data plan. Please refer to your respective service providers for details on available plans.

Are there any affordable packages made available for those in the B40 income category?
Service providers have developed affordable packages for customers to choose from and this includes unlimited data packages, in the event the free daily 1GB Productivity Internet data has been fully utilised. Please refer to your respective service providers for details on available packages.

What are some of the details about the Free Daily 1GB Productivity Internet?
Maxis is conscious of the importance of its connectivity network, and is ready to help its customers stay connected. We are offering free 30GB per month (1GB daily) with 24 hours usage, from 3 July until 31 December 2020.

Is the 1GB pass still available for redemption?
Yes, the pass is available for redemption from 3 July until 31 December 2020.

What can this new Free Daily 1GB Productivity Internet be used for?
The new 1GB of free data can be used for learning and productivity tools as well as most browsing needs, except for social media, video streaming, gaming and music streaming.

How much data can I redeem?
You can redeem up to 30GB data per month (1GB daily) for free. The free daily 1GB Productivity Internet offer is provided to customers over and above their existing data quota. For example, if you have already subscribed to a monthly 30GB package, you will get an additional 1GB per day at no additional charge.

Can I use this daily pass throughout the day?
Yes, the new Free 1GB Productivity Internet pass can be redeemed at any time and can be used throughout the day. 
For Maxis and Hotlink Postpaid: Each pass will expire at 11:59pm on the same day.
For Hotlink Prepaid: Each pass is valid for 24 hours from the time of redemption. For example, if you redeemed the pass at 11:00 am it will be valid until 10:59 am the following day. 

What happens to my unused data after the 24 hours redemption period is over?
Any unused data will not be carried forward to the next redemption cycle. Please redeem another pass if you wish to continue using more free data.

What sites and applications can I access for free?
In addition to the FREE 1GB pass, 24/7 free access will be automatically granted to selected educational sites, Ministry of Health websites, CRPC calls, and other government apps which include:

  • eKelas
  • MySejahtera
  • MyTrace
  • Gerak Malaysia

This is to ensure that all Malaysians are able to access critical tools and information portals without placing strain on their current data packages from 10 June 2020.
