Celcom Axiata Bhd (Celcom) and Maxis Berhad (Maxis) successfully conducted Southeast Asia’s first 5G Multi Operator Core Network (MOCN) trial, achieving peak speeds of more than 1.1Gbps in an outdoor environment at trial sites in Langkawi, Kedah.
Maxis Expresses Support For More Affordable Rates
Maxis Berhad (Maxis) expressed its support towards fulfilling the commitment it earlier made for more affordable rates in response to Dato’ Sri Dr. Halim Shafie, MCMC’s Chairman call for quicker action last evening.
“The prices of our prepaid broadband have been reduced by 50% where customers can purchase a Hotlink Tablet Plan Simpack for only RM30 instead of RM60. It comes with FREE 1GB data at longer validity and every 1GB add-on was reduced to RM25. And for even more value at an affordable price, we introduced the 2GB data add-on at RM45. To further enhance this plan for students, Maxis will be providing free WiFi access at University campuses,” said Dushyan Vaithiyanathan , Head of Consumer Business, Maxis Berhad.

The VR learning experience by Maxis is the only 5G use case in the education vertical being piloted under the 5G Demonstration Projects in Langkawi.
