Maxis would like to inform its Hotlink prepaid customers that it will be embarking on a system upgrading exercise in two phases, of which the first phase will commence on 22 April 2019.
Bringing Deepavali Cheer To MySkills Youth
During the recent Deepavali celebrations, more than 80 Maxis employees travelled to the MySkills Youth Hostel in Pandamaran, Klang to help brighten up the lives of 120 Indian youth. And it was nothing short of a rewarding experience.
Following Hotlink's recent partnership with MySkills and THR Raaga for the #MySecondChance campaign, Maxis employees worked hand-in-hand with MySkills Foundation, an NGO helping at-risk youth of the Indian community achieve personal and social success through vocational training and skills.
At the one-day programme organised with the residents, Maxis helped give a fresh coat of paint to 32 flats located in two blocks, surfacing a futsal court and even planting an entire vegetable garden for the residents to harvest.There was no shortage of cooks either. Freshly made meals were prepared by both MySkills employees and some talented 'chefs' from Maxis who whipped up mouthwatering dishes like biryani rice, mutton kurma and chicken on the spot for the youth and all those who helped out that day.
Earlier, Hotlink gave the opportunity for the public to spread the light and give someone a second chance through the #MySecondChancecampaign in conjunction with the Deepavali festivities. For every share of this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_rWtEdivPY, Hotlink pledged to donate towards the MySkills Foundation. A total of RM10,000 was contributed by Hotlink as a result of the video being shared over a thousand times.
"We were extremely touched by the response from the public on this campaign and are thrilled that the video went viral. It was also our way of empowering Malaysians to use a digital platform to do their bit for charity. This campaign spurred our Maxis volunteers to personally dedicate their time with the youth and we are really proud of them!" said Navin Manian, Maxis Head of Prepaid.
“The Maxis volunteers certainly had no qualms about getting their hands ‘dirty’. They painted, planted, cooked, and they did it genuinely for our kids. I saw the smiles on their faces. We thank the volunteers who made an attempt to connect with these kids and create meaningful relationships with them,” said S. Malar, Executive Director of MySkills Foundation.
It was heartwarming to see everyone come together with such enthusiasm in lifting the spirits of these youth, and Maxis applauds MySkills Foundation for their dedication.
