Each year when we celebrate Merdeka Day, it is customary and a culture for Malaysians to witness and be part of the ever-patriotic National Day parade, which is a symbol of unity and pride for our country. However, not everyone is always able to physically be at the parade and join in the celebrations. So this year, in conjunction with the National Day celebration, all Malaysians will have the opportunity to be part of Merdeka by participating in Maxis Berhad’s (Maxis) Unite for Malaysia parade, from wherever they are.
To be part of the virtual parade, created by Maxis, Malaysia’s only integrated communications service provider, all they need to do is take a photo of themselves or even their friends, and upload it onto their Instagram or Twitter accounts with the hashtag #unite4msia, and their photo will be automatically added to the parade on Maxis’ mylaunchpad site, at merdeka.mlp.my. PC users can go directly to merdeka.mlp.my to upload their photos. In addition, the most unique and interesting photo submitted before 9 September will be featured in Maxis’ Malaysia Day newspaper advertisement on 16 September.
“This is just another avenue for Malaysians to not just be part of this parade in a virtual sense, but importantly express their patriotism and pride for Malaysia in a very unique way. We are therefore proud to be part of this effort and to provide a digital platform for all Malaysians to be part of the 56th Merdeka Day. The Unite For Malaysia campaign will also represent the longest parade held in Malaysia stretching from 31 August 2013 to the eve of Malaysia Day on 15 September 2013.
