How do I activate International Roaming on my mobile phone?

You can activate International Roaming anytime and anywhere (local and oversea) via Easy Menu, just dial *100#, select Intl Roaming, select any Country, select again Intl Roaming and then select ON.
Alternatively you can give us a call.

Do I need to pay any monthly fee for subscribing to International Roaming service on my mobile phone?

There is no monthly subscription for International Roaming, your International roaming usages are charged on pay-per-use and in the form of passes such as DataRoam Pass.

How do I turn on the International Roaming service when I am abroad?

Can I call Maxis customer care line for assistance from abroad for free?

If you need assistance while abroad, dial *123# from your mobile phone and our Customer Care agent will call you back at no costs.

How do I check roaming charges while I am overseas?

When abroad, you can check roaming charges by dialing *100# select Intl Roaming, select any Country > Other/More Services > Check Rates.

Alternatively you can launch MyMaxis App, go to More > Roaming Rates.

How do I save on calls to Malaysia while I’m abroad?

Use our Roam 120 service to enjoy better savings whenever you call home from overseas.
To use, dial *120*<country><area code/mobile prefix><phone number># to call.

What is the charging block when I call home from abroad?

Charging block for call to Malaysia from abroad is 60 seconds.

What is a DataRoam Pass?

The DataRoam Pass is a roaming Internet pass for Internet browsing whilst travelling abroad. It is a daily pass at RM38/day. The pass is available for both Mobile Internet & Wireless Broadband.

How do I subscribe to a DataRoam Pass?

You can automatically enjoy the data pass upon data usage at RM38 on our preferred operator. Be sure to roam on our preferred operator to enjoy this feature. Alternatively, you may subscribe to the pass via:

MyMaxis App, go to More > Roaming Rates; or
Easy Menu, dial *100# > 'International Roaming' > 'Country' and select 'Buy 1d Data Pass.

Will I be informed on the subscription?

We will inform you via SMS when your pass has been successfully activated, for both manual and auto subscriptions. Alternatively, you can check via check status through *100#.

What does the DataRoam Pass offer?

The pass offers Mobile Internet Browsing when a subscriber is travelling abroad. The pass enables Mobile Internet browsing till midnite of visiting countries capital city time each day. Just like domestic passes, Fair Usage Policy 'FUP' applies during roaming i.e. Upon exhaustion of the respective pass fair usage quota, you will experience a reduced internet speed.

How much does the pass cost & what is the validity?

The DataRoam Pass is RM38 per day. The pass is valid till midnight of the visiting countries capital city time e.g. If you are in Australia, the pass expires at 12 midnight Canberra time.

If I’ve reached my daily Fair Usage Quota, can I still do data roaming without any additional charges?

Yes. You can still continue to browse at a reduced speed without further charges after you have reached the fair usage quota until the expiry of the pass.

Can I restore my Internet speed upon reaching the daily fair usage quota?

Yes. You can restore your Internet usage speed by buying a new DataRoam Pass @ RM38/day. To subscribe dial *100# > International Roaming > Country > Buy 1d Data Pass

Can I unsubscribe from a DataRoam Pass?

No. the pass will expire automatically once the pass time duration has reached.

How many DataRoam Pass can I buy at one time?

There is no limit to the number of passes you can buy in a day; the pass(s) are stackable i.e. you can buy as many even before the fair usage quota expires. However, please note that the pass is only valid for one day and expires at midnight of the visiting local country's capital city.

How much do I have to pay if my usage exceeds the Fair Usage?

If you have exhausted your fair usage quota and still continue browsing, your internet browsing speed will be reduced till the pass expiry but these usages will NOT incur extra charges.

How do I keep track on my pass usage & expiry?

Quota expiry SMS notification will be sent to you once your quota expires and usage will be throttled at reduced speed; along with this, Maxis will also send a SMS notification upon pass expiry (at 11:59pm time of capital city). Alternatively, you can check both the pass validity & usage in MyMaxis App, or via Easy Menu by dialing *100# > International Roaming > Check Status.

I have purchased DataRoam Pass in Singapore. Can I use the same pass in Thailand on the same day?

All DataRoam passes including the Add-Ons & Top Up are country specific E.g. Singapore passes cannot be used in Thailand or other countries.

If you are traveling to multiple countries a day, you will need to activate DataRoam Pass for each country and browse on the respective preferred operators.

Can I use the DataRoam Pass in Malaysia?

No, these passes are exclusive for roaming only.

I am multi-SIM user. How does the DataRoam pass work for me?

For multi-SIM users, quota sharing of roaming data pass is now available for primary and secondary SIMs.

How would I know whether Maxis offers DataRoam Pass in a particular country?

You will receive a Welcome SMS from Maxis upon your arrival or when you switch on your Maxis Mobile when you roam.
It will be stated in the SMS whether DataRoam pass or pay per use is available in that country.

If I use data roaming in a country without data pass, how much will I be charged?

You will be charged pay-per-use at RM38/MB.

For countries without DataRoam Pass, how can I manage my data charges?

We will send you notifications when your data roaming pay-per-use charges exceed certain thresholds; you can also personalize your threshold alert. This is a complimentary service.
The threshold options available are:
RM200, RM300, RM500
RM300, RM500, RM800 (default)
RM500, RM800, RM1000
RM800, RM1300, RM2000
To choose your threshold setting, call our Customer Service at *123# (for Free of Charge) if you need assistance.
NOTE:
The alert will be sent once your data roaming pay-per-use charges exceeds your selected thresholds within each Bill Cycle.

For Tablet Users: If you use a tablet with data plan, you can also receive the threshold alert on your CBR (Can Be Reached) mobile number.

How does DataRoam Add-On work?

DataRoam Add-On allows you to top up the data quota while you roam.

How do I subscribe for DataRoam Add-On?

You can subscribe the DataRoam Add-On from MyMaxis App.

Can I subscribe the DataRoam Add-On without the DataRoam Pass?

The DataRoam Add-On can only be purchased if you have bought a DataRoam Pass of the day. It offers to postpaid only.

What happens when I have used 100% of the DataRoam Add-On?

You can continue surf at a reduced speed or you can buy another DataRoam Add-On to enjoy high-speed data.

Can I purchase DataRoam Add-On multiple times?

Yes. You can purchase a new DataRoam Add-On upon the completion of your DataRoam Add-On, you may repeat as many times as you need.
