Sandip Das
Chief Executive Officer
Sandip Das is an Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Maxis Berhad.
He serves as Director on the Boards of Maxis Communications Berhad (MCB), Maxis Berhad and subsidiaries in India. In addition, he serves on the Boards of Sri Lanka Telecom PLC, Mobitel in Sri Lanka and Bridge Mobile Pte Ltd, a strategic alliance of regional telecommunication providers. He has also been listed as one of the 100 most powerful people in the telecoms industry worldwide in Global Telecoms Business for two years running in the 2011 and 2010 GTB Power100 list. In 2011, he was polled as one of the Best CEOs in Malaysia by FinanceAsia's Asia's Best Managed Companies country listings.
Sandip was appointed Chief Executive Officer in January 2007. He has more than 33 years of work experience in the consumer durable, automobile and telecommunications industries. Prior to joining the Company, he was Deputy Managing Director and a Director on the Board of Hutchison Essar Limited (now known as Vodafone Essar Limited, India), one of India’s largest mobile operators. He joined Hutchison Essar, then known as Hutchison Max Telecom, and started that company’s operations in India with its paging business in 1994. Prior to working at Hutchison Essar Limited, he spent 5 years as Franchise head of Al Futtaim Motors, the Toyota franchise of the Al Futtaim Group, in Dubai, UAE, and 10 years with Indian consumer durable giant Usha International, Shriram Group, where he started as a management trainee and left as joint divisional manager.
He holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Regional Engineering College (now the National Institute of Technology), Rourkela, India. |

Nasution Mohamed Chief Financial Officer
Nasution joined Maxis in January 2011 and was appointed Chief Financial Officer on 15 April 2011. He plays a strategic role in understanding the relative economics of different parts of the operations, and integrating resources across business functions, to deliver high performance across Maxis. Concurrently, he is responsible for financial reporting, governance and compliance, corporate finance, treasury, procurement, regulatory, administration and facilities, and overseeing legal matters.
Nasution has 17 years of wide business experience in Malaysia and overseas. Prior to joining Maxis, Nasution was the Managing Director/CEO of Penerbangan Malaysia Berhad (PMB). Prior to PMB, he was an Executive Director at UDA Holdings Berhad. Nasution started his career with KPMG in Australia and subsequently joined the Corporate Finance Division of Amanah Merchant Bank Berhad. He then moved on to Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad (Danaharta). Subsequent to Danaharta, Nasution joined KPMG Malaysia where he was Head of the Audit Department.
Nasution holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of New South Wales, Australia and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA). |

Suren J. Amarasekera
Joint Chief Operating Officer
Suren is responsible for the overall consumer mobile telephony business that includes postpaid, prepaid and broadband product development, product innovation, segment marketing, brand and marketing management, sales, distribution, customer service, integrated products, Go-To-Market and customer management. He is jointly responsible for the operations of the business alongside Mark Dioguardi, Joint COO.
Suren joined Maxis in July 2011. He brings with him over 19 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. In the most recent 6 years prior to joining Maxis, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Mobitel, the mobile arm of telecommunications operator Sri Lanka Telecom. During his tenure, he reshaped the Mobitel business and made it a powerful mobile player in Sri Lanka through a potent combination of value innovation and customer centricity. Prior to assuming his role as the CEO of Mobitel, he had acquired over 13 years of experience working for Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) with the initial half in Sri Lanka and the latter half at its head office in Singapore. While with SingTel, Suren had served in various senior management capacities.

Mark Dioguardi
Joint Chief Operating Officer
Mark is responsible for the Company's strategic Network and Information Technology direction, besides leading the development, sales and growth of the Enterprise and Government Business Division and Home Products Division, as well as Human Resources. He is jointly responsible for the operations of the business alongside Suren J. Amarasekera, Joint COO.
Mark was Maxis’ Chief Technology Officer prior to his promotion to Joint COO and in that role led Maxis to be the only Integrated Telco in Malaysia with the largest footprint of 2G, 3G, High Speed Fibre Broadband, and Satellite Broadband capability.
Mark has over 19 years of telecommunications experience across Australia, UK and Asia with companies such as Telstra and O2, and prior to joining Maxis in August 2009, he was with Telstra in Australia as the Executive Project Director for Ultra High Speed Internet, and also as General Manager of Architecture for Next Generation Networks.
He holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Melbourne Business School and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, both from the University of Melbourne, Australia. |

Mohamed Fitri bin Abdullah
Enterprise and Government Business
Fitri is responsible for the business segments of Corporate, Government, Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) and Wholesale, encompassing both fixed and mobile products.
Fitri joined Maxis as Head of Enterprise Business in January 2006; his role was subsequently enlarged to include Carrier Business from January 2009 to October 2011. Fitri has over 20 years of experience and prior to joining Maxis, he was with Hewlett-Packard Malaysia (HP) for over 9 years where he held various roles and positions in the Consulting and Systems Integration division. Prior to joining HP, he was a Consulting Manager with Ernst & Young. He started his career with BULL Worldwide Information Systems, USA as a Principal Software Engineer in 1989.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Indiana State University, USA and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Arizona State University, USA. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University, USA. |

Sophia Lim
Sales, Distribution and Customer Services
Sophia is responsible for leading and managing sales, operations and services functions through all channels, developing new customer touch-points, and raising the overall threshold of the Maxis brand of service.
Sophia joined Maxis in January 2011 with more than 25 years of MNC, FMCG and consumer/pharmaceutical experience, coupled with in-depth understanding of consumer retail markets across Asia. Prior to Maxis, she was with the IDS Group, where she was the Country Managing Director for Singapore. Sophia has also held senior positions in MNCs, including Boots Healthcare Far East, Philips Malaysia, Bausch & Lomb Malaysia, Jordan AS and Diethelm Malaysia.

Harold Quek
Home Products
Harold is responsible for leading Home Products to develop, market and sell products and services that will transform the home environment into a hub from which subscribers can experience next generation broadband, IPTV and family-oriented voice and data packages.
Harold joined Maxis in August 2010 and has over 28 years of experience in all aspects of the telecommunications industry, and has led the launch of fixed, mobile, global managed and convergent services for the consumer, enterprise and wholesale markets. He has held senior commercial positions in “GO” Etihad Atheeb Telecom in Saudi Arabia, "du" Emirates Integrated Telecom in the United Arab Emirates, StarHub in Singapore, Concert Communications (BT & MCI) in the Asia Pacific region as well as Macquarie Telecom and Telstra in Australia.
Harold holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Electronics & Electrical Engineering (Honours) degree from the University of Western Australia. |

Azmi Bin Ujang
Compliance and Government Liaisons
Human Resources
Azmi was appointed Head of Compliance and Government Liaisons on 1 November 2011 and is responsible for ensuring the company and its employees comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies/procedures and providing assurance to the Board of Directors and Senior Management. Azmi also represents Maxis in key interactions with government and regulatory agencies.
In addition, Azmi holds the portfolio as Head of Human Resources and is responsible for the overall management of human capital, internal communications and corporate occupational safety and health. He was appointed Head of Human Resources in October 1999 and has over 23 years of experience. He joined Maxis in 1992, after having spent 7 years at Standard Chartered Bank Berhad as a Covenanted Officer/National Officer in banking operations and human resources. Prior to this, he was a Dealer Representative at stock broking firm Seagrott & Campbell for a year.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Indiana State University, USA. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University, USA. |

Stephen John Mead
General Counsel
Stephen is responsible for managing the legal requirements of Maxis which includes litigation, developing legal strategies, overseeing due diligence activities and ensuring coordination of trade marks and intellectual property matters.
Stephen has over 19 years of experience and prior to joining Maxis in June 2009, he was with Mallesons Stephen Jaques (MSJ), a leading legal firm in Australia, where he was a mergers and acquisitions partner. He has extensive general commercial legal experience, having acted for clients in a wide variety of legal issues. While at MSJ, he was seconded to Telstra Corp., Australia where he held several positions including that of Deputy General Counsel and Competition Counsel.
He holds a LLB (Honours) qualification from the Queensland University of Technology in Australia. |

Chow Chee Yan
Internal Audit
Chee Yan is responsible for managing the Internal Audit functions and the development and execution of the audit process from a strategic perspective.
Chee Yan has over 30 years of experience which includes 13 years with the Schlumberger Group as International Financial Controller in Singapore, Indonesia and the USA. Prior to joining Maxis in June 2002, he was the Director of Risk Management of MEASAT Broadcast Network Systems Sdn Bhd. He was previously with Ernst & Whinney in Singapore from 1981 to 1982 and Turquands Barton Mayhew in Manchester from 1977 to 1981.
He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Cranfield Institute of Science and Technology in the UK and is a Chartered Accountant (England & Wales). |

Kala Kularajah Sundram
Talent and Organisation Development
Kala is responsible for driving talent management, leadership development and effective organisation development.
Kala joined Maxis in August 2010, bringing over 19 years of experience with her. She spent 14 years with Hay Group, where her last position was Regional Director of Reward Practice Business for Asia Pacific Africa. As part of this role, she also served in the Regional Leadership Team. Prior to joining the Hay Group, Kala worked for the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (now known as Bursa Malaysia).
Kala holds a Master of Business Administration (Summa Cum Laude) degree from Boston University, USA, a CPA from the Australian Society of CPAs, and a Bachelor of Economics (Accounting) degree from Monash University, Australia. |

Lee Chuan Yew
Information Technology
Chuan Yew is responsible for the overall management of the Information Technology Division and IT Transformation.
Chuan Yew has more than 25 years of experience. Before joining Maxis in February 2011, he served as Regional Chief Information Officer with Courts Asia Pte Ltd. Prior to that, Chuan Yew was Senior Technology Advisor in DHL Express Worldwide and held several senior positions in DHL’s IT Services as well as Oracle Corporation and Unisys Corporation.
He holds a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Computer Science and Telecommunications, from LaTrobe University, Australia. |

Yap Chee Sun
Network
CS Yap is responsible for network planning and design, rollout, operations and maintenance as well as optimisation of the entire network.
CS Yap joined Maxis in July 2005. He has over 22 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to Maxis, he was with LogicaCMG, where he was the Regional Operations Director. CS Yap spent his earlier days in mobile network operations and was seconded to Singapore Telecom’s ventures in the region.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from University of East London and in July 2011 completed the Stanford Executive Program in Stanford University, USA. |

Denis Seek
Technology
Denis is responsible for leading the development of technology roadmaps, driving trials of key emerging technologies and, through business case analysis and vendor selection processes, recommending new technologies into Maxis’ existing network.
Denis joined Maxis in April 2006 and has over 19 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Before joining Maxis, he was the Head of Radio Planning and Technology Development in MobileOne (M1) Singapore and was responsible for the planning of M1’s 2G and 3G network. Prior to M1, he was with SingTel and was seconded to Globe Telecom in the Philippines where he led the implementation of their initial GSM network.
Denis holds a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering with First Class Honours from the National University of Singapore, a "Diplôme d’Ingénieur" from the "Institut National des Télécommunications", France and an MBA with distinction from Warwick University, UK. |

Tan Lay Han
Integrated Marketing and Customer Management
Lay Han is responsible for integrated product and segment propositions, go-to-market activities, geo-marketing, business intelligence and the centralised functions of loyalty management, commercial management, as well as business performance that span across all products and services.
Lay Han joined Maxis in October 1999 as Head of Sales and Distribution and was subsequently appointed as Head of Channel Distribution and Customer Service in February 2004, and later as Head of Consumer Marketing in September 2006. In September 2009, he was appointed Head of Planning and in mid 2010, he took charge of the Business Transformation portfolio. Prior to joining Maxis, he was General Manager at Tanjong Golden Village Sdn Bhd (now known as TGV Cinemas Sdn Bhd). He was also involved in various business development projects for Tanjong plc. including the establishment of the TGV business. Lay Han was previously with BP Malaysia Sdn Bhd where he held various marketing and operations positions for nine years.

Kugan Thirunavakarasu
Product, Device & Innovation (PDI) and Roaming
Kugan is responsible for providing leadership for Maxis to be the market leader in non-voice revenue through the development of innovative data products, services and sales of devices. In addition, he is responsible for providing leadership in international roaming.
Kugan was appointed as Head of Product, Device & Innovation in 2006 and has over 20 years of experience in Malaysia and overseas. He joined Maxis in March 2003, after having spent 3 years at DiGi Telecommunications heading their Mobile Data initiatives. Prior to this, he was attached with Ericsson Sweden and held roles in Radio Engineering, Software Development, Product Marketing and Key Accounts Management. Kugan has also held senior positions covering Japan, Germany, Italy, India and North Africa (Tunisia and Libya) in telecommunications services.
He is currently a Board member in MEF (Mobile Entertainment Forum) Asia and an Alternate Director in Bridge Alliance.
Kugan holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from University Technology Malaysia, and in July 2011 completed the Stanford Executive Program in Stanford University, USA.

Jeff Chong Koon Meng
Mobility Products and International Services
Jeff is responsible for leading postpaid and prepaid product development as well as IDD and international settlement and termination. In addition, he is responsible for wireless broadband services through the acquisition of new quality customers, and the retention of and up-selling to existing customers.
Jeff has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. He joined Maxis in December 2005 as General Manager, Corporate Sales and was subsequently appointed as General Manager, SME and Senior General Manager, Distribution & Regional Management in 2007. In May 2010, he was further appointed as Vice President, Regional Sales & Services. Prior to joining Maxis he was with Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd for over 10 years where he held various roles and positions in the Sales and Product division. Jeff was previously a Sales and Marketing Manager with Comit Communications Sdn Bhd. He started his career with Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd as a Marketing Executive in 1991.
He holds a Master of Business Admin from Charles Sturt University, Australia and a Bachelor of Economics degree (Honours) from National University of Malaysia (UKM). In July 2011, he completed the Stanford Executive Program in Stanford University, USA.

Mariam Bevi Batcha
Corporate Affairs
Mariam is responsible for the overall planning and implementation of corporate communications activities, providing strategic PR counsel to the senior management team, formulating communication policies and procedures, as well as developing and driving sustainable corporate responsibility activities.
Mariam has over 20 years of experience gained from a number of listed companies in Malaysia. She joins Maxis from Telekom Malaysia where she was Vice President, Group Corporate Communications, with key responsibilities in providing strategic PR counsel to the management team and the overall planning and implementation of corporate communications and corporate responsibility activities. Prior to that, she served as the Head of Group Corporate Communications and Investor Relations in Amanah Capital Partners Berhad, and later as the General Manager of Group Corporate Communications in United Engineers (Malaysia) Berhad/UEM World Berhad.
Mariam holds a Bachelor of Business in Business Administration with Distinction from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia and a Diploma in Public Relations from the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM).

Dipak Kaur
Company Secretary
Dipak was appointed as Company Secretary in August 2009. She has been with the Maxis Communications Berhad Group of Companies since 2001.
Prior to joining Maxis, Dipak spent six years at DMIB Berhad as Company Secretary/Legal Advisor and two years at Arab Malaysian Corporation Berhad.
Dipak earned her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Leicester, UK and a Masters in Law from the University of Malaya. She also obtained a Certificate of Legal Practice from the Legal Profession Qualifying Board, a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and is a Graduate ICSA from the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. She was admitted to the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate and Solicitor in 1993.
