MAXIS TEAM GOLF TOUR 2008 TOURNAMENT RULES |
| |
Organisation.
The Maxis Team Golf Tour 2008 (MTGT 2008 – ‘The Tour’) is organised by Maxis Mobile Services Sdn Bhd (MMSSB) and conducted according to the Rules of Golf as laid down by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, Local Rules of participating clubs and Maxis Unique Rules. The Tour is administered by the Tournament Committee - therein known as ‘The Committee’ - whose decision on all matters is final. |
| |
Format. The Tour is a three-person team combined Stableford event open to golfers with valid handicaps of up to 24 for men and 36 for ladies. Men shall play off the Maxis Blue tees and women off the Maxis Red tees unless otherwise specified. |
| |
Grand Final.
The winning team and best individual Gross player of each qualifying round shall qualify for the Grand Final. Should the Individual Gross winner be part of the winning team, the next lowest gross achiever will then qualify. |
| |
Eligibility.
The Tour is open to amateur golfers aged 18 years and above and are registered (post-paid) Maxis customers holding accounts for a minimum of 60 days in their names only. Entries are on a first-come first-served basis with priority to Maxis One Club members. Participants can sign up to qualify for as many times as they wish but priority will be given to teams or players competing for the first time.
Every team must include a participant with an official ‘C Medal” handicap of 19 or higher upon submission of entry form. Should this handicap drop lower on tournament day, the lower handicap shall be in force. Players who have qualified for the Grand Final may not be entitled to play in remaining rounds. |
| |
Entries.
Registration is through the official entry forms complete with the registration fee of RM744 per team (RM248 per participant). The Organisers are not responsible for entries lost in the mail and reserve the right to refuse entries without providing any reason whatsoever. |
| |
Maxis Unique Rules.
In accordance with the Maxis Unique Rules, individual scores that surpass 39 stableford points shall be adjusted to 39 -- thereby a team cannot score more than 117 points. In cases of ties, final positions shall be determined by countback starting with lowest combined handicap; actual combined stableford score of last nine holes, last six holes, last three holes and last hole. Last nine refers to holes 10-18 on the scorecard regardless of starting tee box. Countback for the gross category is based on back nine, last six holes, last three holes, last hole, then hole-by-hole starting from 1st hole. |
| |
Handicaps.
Participants must own a club or USGA (MGA) approved handicap of up to 24 for men and 36 for ladies. Failure to declare the lowest handicap at any time may result in disqualification. In accordance with the Maxis Arbitrary Stroke Reduction (MASR) chart, handicaps shall be revised should a participant win a prize (other than Novelty or Lucky Draw) and competes in further qualifying rounds. The Committee also reserves the right to assign handicaps as they deem fit, within reason and as allowed within the Rules of Golf. |
| |
| There is no limit to combined handicap in a team. |
| |
National Handicapping System. In accordance with Malaysian Golf Association’s tournament committee policy, participants will be assigned a temporary handicap for a venue based on their USGA Indexes against the slope rating of the respective venues. Golfers not within the jurisdiction of the National Handicapping System (NHS) may take part in The Tour subject to a mandatory 20% reduction of their current club handicap. Thereafter, the golfer will be provided with a temporary index for the remainder of The Tour. |
