What is Spotify Premium?

Spotify Premium is a digital music-streaming service that gives you on-demand access to millions of songs on all your devices, including mobile, tablets, TV, desktop and in the car! It is completely ad-free, and allows for offline listening and higher sound quality. Spotify Premium is originally priced at RM14.90/month. 

What is the difference between Spotify and Spotify Premium?

The difference between the two are:

Who is qualified for this service?

All postpaid customers who have an active personal Maxis mobile number are eligible for this service. For Business accounts, kindly check with your respective company policy. 

NOTE: Maxis and Hotlink Wireless Broadband and Maxis Fibre Internet/Maxis Home Fibre Internet customers are not eligible to participate in this service.

What’s the difference between subscribing to Spotify Premium on my own versus via Maxis?

Subscribing with Maxis gives you these benefits:

Step 2: Launch MyMaxis App

How do I know if I have activated the service?

You will receive a confirmation SMS after you have successfully subscribed to the service.

I am an existing Spotify Premium customer, however I did not sign up via Maxis for my Spotify Premium account. How do I enjoy this offer?

You will need to de-activate your current Spotify Premium account before its renewal period.

Note: MaxisONE plan 98, MaxisONE plan 128, MaxisONE plan 158 and MaxisONE plan 188 customers enjoy free Spotify Premium access as well as an extra 15GB to stream music till 23 0ct 2016 (scrolling through albums and playlists with artwork would consume data).  

How do I check my music usage?

We will be launching this feature in the MyMaxis App soon. To ensure that you get this feature, do update your app to the latest version.

I have just subscribed to Maxis-Spotify Premium 30 days free trial. What happens next?

For new users, the Maxis-Spotify Premium service will automatically renew after 30 days. Customer then has the option to unsubscribe from the service before renewal date.

Note: New users means users who had never registered a Spotify account (regardless it is via Maxis or not via Maxis)

Maxis have charged me in full (RM9.99) for Spotify Premium in the last bill statement. I have registered and used it for less than a month. Why am I not pro-rated for the service?

Spotify is a third party service that Maxis is exclusively bringing to our customers and the full charge for Spotify is taken on the very first day of subscription. That is why we are not able to pro-rate this service.

I am a supplementary line under MaxisONE Share. Am I entitled for the free Maxis-Spotify Premium with free music streaming 24/7 too?

No, you will need to pay for the monthly subscription fee of RM9.99 (monthly subscription price valid until 23rd Oct 2016) or RM14.90 (From 23rd Oct 2016 onwards). Streaming songs would consume your internet quota.

I am a supplementary line under MaxisONE Share and my Principal line is enjoying the Maxis-Spotify Premium service. How do I share the service too?

Unfortunately, sharing the service is not possible.

Once I have registered, can I access Spotify via other Internet or Wi-Fi connections?

Yes, Spotify is accessible via other Internet and Wi-Fi connections. 

How do I know if my device is compatible with the Spotify application?

To check if your device is compatible, go to http://m.spotify.com

Can I access my Spotify Premium account on other supported devices?

Yes, you can access your Spotify premium account on other supported devices. However, only one device is able to stream music on that account at any one time.

Will accessing the Spotify service consume my Internet quota?

Yes, accessing the service will consume your Internet quota. Alternatively, you can use the Spotify service over a Wi-Fi connection.

How do I unsubscribe the service?

Before proceeding please ensure, you've turned off your WiFi connection and you are on Maxis network. Also, do turn OFF data saver on your internet browser settings.

MaxisONE Plan (Free Spotify Premium):

Why are you charging RM14.90 when it has been free all this while?

FREE Spotify premium was an exclusive promotion for our MaxisONE customers but that promotion is now coming to an end. You will be charged RM14.90/month. This change will be effective 23rd October onwards.

What do you mean when you say that you’re charging RM14.90/month but with 3GB free music streaming?

In order to enjoy Spotify premium, customers will need to pay RM14.90. But as an added bonus, our MaxisONE customers will be given FREE 3GB music streaming quota when streaming music on Spotify.

Does the free 3GB music streaming apply only to Spotify customers that are registered via Maxis?

No, as long as you are an eligible MaxisONE customer, you will be able to enjoy FREE 3GB music streaming regardless of whether you register for Spotify via Maxis or directly with them.

I’m not with any of the MaxisONE plans, can I still enjoy the free 3GB music streaming?

The FREE 3GB music streaming is only for MaxisONE 98 and above.

If I subscribed for the Spotify family package of RM26.90 via Spotify itself, can my share lines enjoy the 3GB music streaming too?

No, the FREE 3GB music streaming is only applicable for MaxisONE principal lines. Share lines are not eligible for the FREE 3GB music streaming.

What if my renewal date for free Spotify Premium was on the 22 Oct 2016? Do I not get to enjoy free Spotify Premium come 23 Oct 2016?

All Spotify Premium subscription renewals from 23 Oct 2016 onwards will be charged RM14.90. If your Spotify Premium subscription renewal happens before 23 Oct 2016, you will still enjoy Spotify Premium for free for the next 30 days from the renewal date. Your subsequent renewal will be charged RM14.90. For example: John’s Spotify Premium’s monthly renewal is on the 21st of every month. On 21st of October, his Spotify Premium will be renewed for free, and he continues to enjoy access to his Spotify Premium account until 20th of November.

What will happen upon reaching the renewal date? Will my Spotify account be fully deactivated?

Customers who have Unsubscribed to Premium

Upon reaching the renewal date ,your Spotify account will be downgraded to the ‘Spotify Free’ version. Your playlist will still be maintained but you will not be able to play songs on-demand. Your offline/downloaded songs will be deleted from your device and you will have to listen to advertisements in between songs. You will not be able to stream high quality music.

Please ensure to turn off the Wi-Fi and data saver in the setting.

Customers do wish retain their Spotify Premium service:

Upon reaching the renewal date ,your Spotify subscription will be renewed at RM14.90.
