The initiative, which went live Dec.1, enables all participants in the effort to transmit prescriptions using the PocketScript application on BlackBerry wireless handheld directly to the closest pharmacy. In this manner, patients can avoid the hassle of carrying a paper script that could get misplaced, lost or stolen during transit.

Suncor Energy is one of the early adopters of BlackBerry technology, having equipped its Territory Managers with more than 200 BlackBerry handhelds since 2002. Each BlackBerry contained an automated 300-question checklist. Suncor Energy developed a C-HTML form in-house to put the quality control checklist on the BlackBerry handheld for its managers to report their findings.
