2.5G and 3G networks are currently
being implemented and will greatly enhance the transfer
rates between devices in the next few years.

The 802 series of standards
such as 802.11a and 802.11b specifications are rectified
by IEEE for wireless LAN (wLAN) for use in a business complex,
office building, warehouse, exhibition hall, temporary project
office, or any other business setting.
-
The effective operating
radius and number of concurrent user support ranges from
50 to 90 meters but can be extended by using access points.
-
Higher bandwidth
means more power is required. This is bad news for battery-powered
devices such as notebooks, laptops and PDAs. Technology
like Intel's Centino addresses the battery power utilization.
-
802
technology is suited for organisations which uses interactive
applications in a local area network (LAN) environment.
-
Bluetooth
is similar to 802 technologies but operates at a lower
transfer rate between 720Kbps to 1Mbps. Its range is also
limited to approximately 10 meters.
-
Bluetooth
is well suited for conducting quick data transfers between
devices such as PCs, cell phones, personal digital assistants
(PDA), and printers.
